A little fatigue is catching up after a productive day.

Unfortunately, some homework and exercises will require us to do teamwork. Ugh! I’m not the social type anymore, I don’t want to make new friends or force myself into socialization. Yet I complain I feel alone. That other aspect of my life is mostly due to not having a romantic partner though. Still, I took my courage into both hands and approached a student to pair up this morning.

Since half the class didn’t hear that the morning course would not take place yesterday in the auditorium of doom, a few of us showed up to a closed door. That gave a lot o us the chance to mingle and I was not the only one that used this event to approach a potential teammate. She seemed shy and reserved which was comforting since I didn’t want to have to work with others. She responded very well to my request and decided to spend our free time getting to know one another and go around the campus. I will address this new teammate as K. She’s 22 and has been working since she left high school since she wasn’t sure of what she wanted to do in life. We were surprised to find out we had a lot of interests in common and that faith did us well. She will be studying in environment, and, like me, she enjoys finding ways to be more eco-friendly in small aspects of our day-to-day. Moreover, she’s fascinated by Asian culture and she wishes to travel there one day just like I use to be before I did my first trip to that beautiful continent back in 2007.

It was great to mingle a bit. Other students in the afternoon class approached me to ask questions about the sound situation in that terrible classroom, and I assessed that the majority was struggling to understand the teacher yesterday. It has already created a support network for those who have difficulties following a course with a lot of ambient noise. Many are preparing for the worst which is a relief to know since we all will be figuring ways out to compensate. As gratifying as this socialization was, it also left me fatigued. I’m not used to spending that much energy anymore and the study load also adds to the expenditure. I couldn’t put my thoughts together after class for a study session at the library so I returned home early and took a nap. Tomorrow there’s no class so I will be able to sleep in and recover before the next push over the weekend. Since I have no class tomorrow and that my Friday is not a full day as indicated on my calendar but rather a 3 hours period exercise in the afternoon, I have yet again more time to study and make sure I understand everything. I feel that my chances of success are increasing.

Outside of school, my dear friend from Montreal I thought was upset at me reached out today to deliver the good news that he will be visiting me and staying over for one night on the weekend. Not only am I reassured that our friendship is safe, but I also will spend some much-needed face-to-face time with him! It’s a great motivation to get my dishes and cleaning done in my place and also do my homework early. Therefore, my day is finishing with a doubly happy note.
