A reorganization miracle along with a disturbing truth.

First thing in the morning, I was back on campus waiting to meet the directress of my program. I was the first one there and had the privilege to have an enriching chat with her.

She offered a fabulous solution to my study overload situation. Since all the math courses are available online, we switched to those so I could take them at a slower pace all the way to the Summer. This way I would complete my certificate in one year and be able to enter my microbiology program in the Fall. Joy!

One tone of worry got lifted off my shoulders. No more fear of not being able to record my math classes since that teacher was reluctant to be recorded. No more confusion, disorganization and sick games. Yes, you’re reading me well, sick games. I went to the tutoring class of an ex-course assistant of that math teacher and he so happens to like to give way too hard homework and exercises to supposedly spot the A+ students. The reality is much darker. From the mental and physical health harm such unrealistic demands have on students to the study time taken away from other teachers, it’s somewhat criminal to let this man torture his classes that way. I suffered heart palpitations in less than two week because of this sociopath. He’s old and hopefully soon to be retired. The sooner he’s out of reach of causing more harm the better.

Not only I readjusted my schedule to go at a more realistic pace, but I also discovered and stopped the dirty scheme leading me to poor grades. Now, with a properly calibrated math class, well thought and structured, my chances of current and future success have more than doubled. I’m so happy and relieved that I will reach my goal, and do so with self-respect and excellence.

Still, I can’t help but think the number of students who couldn’t bring their special gifts to the world because they got sabotaged by this maniac. Can you imagine the number of lives that could have been saved or great inventions that could have been made if all the brilliant minds that got failed or discouraged because of that ill intended teacher would have stayed in school? It’s a very sad realisation that leads me to a moment of self-imposed silence.

Thankfully, academia is improving for the better; though we must remain cautious of the abuse of power that to often take place in our educational institutions. We must continue working to increase awareness on this problematic and offer resources to combat this crime.

Gratitude Journal:

I’m grateful for the phenomenal math tutor I met today.
