At my own pace

It had been a long long time I didn’t have anywhere to go or anything to do for others. My only obligation was to do laundry which I did at my own convince without rushing. This feels great. I won’t be traveling to Montreal till Thursday, and I can enjoy some much needed me time.

No more 6 am alarm 7 days a week, no more neurostimulants that make me overly jittery, (unfortunately the new prescription has started giving me anxiety), no more running after the bus, no more looking at my calendar multiple times a day to see if I’m forgetting something. This break is the most relaxing I had in years. Tomorrow will be another me day before finishing my chemistry quizzes. I’m also planning on working a different study routine next semester, one focused on theory understanding before jumping into practice. I need to understand better, what I do, why I’m doing, and for what. What this last exam tought me is that comprehension comes from words, not numbers. Numbers are just a tool, not an end in itself.

I’m less apprehensive of my upcoming Summer semester. I’ve gain confidence in my abilities, and I’m developing new skills to manage my learning, and my stress everyday. I’m optimistic that by next Summer, I should be able to increase my number of classes to 3 a semester. The thing I probably enjoy the most is my increase reading speed which I intend to develop to the stage of strue speed reading. My other objective is to improve my emotional regulation with deeper sleep. Balancing my energy cycles is primordial to my long term academic performance.

I’ve managed to read a lot between school work this semester, and intend to keep it up this Summer too. I love learning, and I’m hungry for more. Being able to study without battling dysthymia or chronic fatigue is a blessing.

I’m grateful for the delicious grass fed organic regional milk that makes the best homemade yogurt.
