I finally got my Christmas cheat day!
Too… much… food… Can’t write!
I wish I could just roll my overflowing-with-food self to bed and enjoy a brilliant food coma but I will uphold my daily blogging commitment.
Today was the perfect example as to why I don’t schedule cheat days, they simply come because life happens. A dear friend invited me for an epic steak delivery steak diner and we absolutely let loose. From tuna tataki to beef tartare, not forgetting to try the filet mignon and culminating with a cold-smoked house ribeye, tonight couldn’t have been more glorious!
Now, you may think I’m not upholding my eco-conscious choices and you are right. Beef and tuna are far from being kind to our environment. If I am to break these criteria, I will at least make sure to minimize the damage by buying it at a restaurant and not the grocery store. When purchasing meats at a restaurant I help individuals of my community earn a living. Yes, we must take care of our planet, but taking care of each other also matters. Secondly, restaurants buy in bulk, reducing pre-cooking packaging. Post cooking, yes delivery requires disposable dishware but many restaurants now use biodegradable and/or reusable and/or recyclable packaging, unlike styrofoam meat packaging in stores.
I wish restaurants would offer more responsible choices of meats, fish and seafood. As a result of more focus on environmental consciousness, restaurants that are vegetarian or vegan or entering the market more easily now. One small step to improve my consumer habits is still a step in the right direction. For now, I continue my exploration of solutions that work for my life and dietary restrictions. Time to go back to that which is even more delightful than the food — my company — and conclude a wonderful evening.
